Discovering the local delicacy 'Curiles' on Tiger Island in Honduras

My last Destination Challenges in Honduras brought me to a stunning volcano island called Isla del Tigre also know as Tiger Island where I discovered a local delicacy called 'Curiles'.

It's a tiny mussel that you can only eat for 24 hours after its catch. You usually share a plate with friends on the beach and have an ice cold beer on the side ;-)

The perfect way to end this fantastic adventure in Honduras...

Learning to make Baleadas from the best in Tegucigalpa, Honduras

Baleadas are the signature dish of Honduras and for my 4th mission on the Honduras Challenge I had to learn how to make them :-).

Luckily I found the lovely ladies of ´Baleadas Lourdes' willing to show me how it's done. These ladies make it look sooo easy...

Sunrise at tropical Lake Yojoa (Lago de Yojoa), Honduras

Got up early to see the sunset over Lake Yojoa and I didn't regret it for one moment.

The sunrise happened and triggered a symphony of bird singing which made the moment even more special. The colours in the trees started showing and the warmth of the mild morning sun on my skin turned this little row boat adventure into a pure delight...

Canopy La Campa: Putting my life on the line in Honduras

Do you have a fear of hights? Then don't read any further... :-)

My second mission on the Honduras Challenge required some serious courage. I was challenged to cross a 300 meter deep canyon near La Campa on a 600 meter long cable. That's over half a kilometer! It's known as the highest canopy in central America and I can tell you. It sure is a rush!

Adventure at the California of the Mayan world: Copan Ruinas

The Mayan site of Copan Ruinas was where I'd tackle my first mission on the Honduras Challenge.
Copan Ruinas was the creative hub in the Mayan world. A bit like California in our world today. The temples are rich in decoration and you find loads of different sculptures.

My goal was to find 'The Elder's head' and 'The Monkey God' somewhere in between the remains of this ancient civilization. How cool is that!

It felt like I walked right into an Indiana Jones or Lara Croft movie set...
